a multimodal digital exhibit documenting trans/gender nonconforming performance history in the US and the communities who have sustained our art

Mapping Queer-Trans Performance

This section of the exhibit features various maps showing when and where, geographically, trans and gender nonconforming artists have presented their work. Looking at trans performance geographically can help trace the development of arts collectives supporting queer artists local to a particular city. It can also help to reveal patterns in what kinds of venues and companies have historically supported touring queer and trans artists. When relevant and available, I will hyperlink points on the map to other sites or other posts within this exhibit. Visitors will be able to read about specific productions and hear stories from the artists about the work they created there (once the audio archive is added).
